How is Tholos different from a traditional custodian?
Tholos is self-custodial, meaning you hold your own keys. Traditional custodians hold your assets on your behalf. With Tholos, we literally cannot access your funds—you maintain complete control while still getting institutional-grade security through MPC (multi-party computation) technology.
What happens to my funds if Tholos goes away?
Your funds are always safe. Because Tholos is self-custodial, you hold your own keys. Even if Tholos ceased to exist, you would retain full access to your assets. We also provide key backup and recovery options so you’re never locked out.
Is Tholos secure enough for institutional use?
Tholos uses DKLs23, the latest generation MPC protocol, along with a policy engine for spending limits, whitelists, and multi-signature approval workflows. We hold CCSS Level 3 certification and have secured over $500 million in transactions for funds, DAOs, and crypto-native companies.

Can I migrate from my current custodian?
Yes. Many of our customers have migrated from Fireblocks, BitGo, and other custodians. You can set up Tholos in parallel, evaluate it alongside your current provider, and migrate assets at your own pace. Our team is available to help with the transition.
